Today we were going to head into Seattle, and have a look around. I think one was starting to think that the convention from our point of view, or some of the party, was a flop. One really I think, had to be a member of the NRHS to benefit from this convention.
We were up at a reasonsable hour and were going to catch the 8.25 service to Seattle, this being the last of the 7 sevices heading into the city during the morning rush from Tacoma. There were no other services until the afternoon trains left Seattle bound for Tacoma, the first at 3.15pm the last at 6.15pm.
We were cutting things fine; getting caught up in traffic, making the station, up to the top floor in the parking building, its going to be tight. Now being about 8.17 and we still had to get our tickets from the vending machine. Well the 8.25 was right on the dot pulling in at 8.24, and away right on the dot of 8.25.
The problem was we were not on board, and they dont wait while you muck around with the ticket vending machines. Oh well tomorrow is another day.
We head over to the coffee shop on the corner of the parking building, and decide what is the program for the rest of the day. Very little apparently, back to car and hotel, drop vehicle off, and walk to a large shopping complex where we wasted a lot of time.
The afternoon was spent at Aurburn station, where I did manage some still shots. There was an interesting move through the station: a John Deere front end loader hauling a work train of two ballast cars.
Otherwise day 10 was quiet.
