  • Driving Route - Google Maps

    25 November 2011
I'm pleased to announce that Dave is close to sorting out the final version for the route we will take. I've divided this intital route into four parts, with each linking to a Google Maps route planner that will open in another window. A full description of where we stay and how many nights, places to visit etc. will be listed soon.

    Check these out:

Part 1 - San Francisco to Las Vegas, via Sacramento, Fresno, Bakersfield, Tehachapi & Barstow.

Part 2 - Las Vegas to Flagstaff, via Kingman & Seligman & looping out to Winslow.

Part 3 - Flagstaff to Ludlow, via Phoenix, Casa Grande, Yuma & Needles.

Part 4 - Ludlow to Los Angeles, via Barstow, Beaumont, Palm Springs, San Diego, Oceanside & Anaheim.

Part 4 is still under development and may or may not change.

Some of the driving takes us through areas where there are no railway tracks, but the reward at the end of each leg will be high intensity rail action - the drive will be worth it.

If you're a scenery fan, then these drives will enthrall - you'll marvel at the expanse, the spectacle, the unfamiliar and the strikingly familiar.
