This tour is scenic to the max. We visit both Canada and the USA to get in some variety and at the moment is about 17 - 19 days long.
Check out the proposed route below, and also some photos I took at Edmonton during my last visit.

This Railfan Tour starts and ends at Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The driving takes us east towards Hope, where we swing north and follow the Fraser River all the way to Lytton.
Staying on the Trans Canada Highway, we then head north to Cache Creek and then swing east towards Kamloops, Revelstoke, Golden, Field and Lake Louise, ending up at Banff. All of this driving is beside railway tracks where traffic volumes are pretty heavy with both the Canadian Pacific and Canadian National Railway's being present.
From Banff, we take a 4 hour drive to Jasper along the Icefields Parkway - without doubt the most scenic drive in the world. No trains, but the scenery will just blow you away.
From Jasper we'll head east through Hinton and Edson to Edmonton, where we head south to Calgary and Lethbridge.
We cross the US/Canada border at Shelby then head west to Bonners Ferry where we swing south again, passing through Sand Point Idaho, Athol to Rathdrum where we head west towards Stevens Pass via Spokane Washington, Wenatchee and Skykomish to Everett where we then head north back to Vancouver.
After all this travelling, we'll overnight at Honolulu on our way home, share our photos, footage and memories before flying back to Auckland.
